Integrated pest management actually involves the proper use of all methods that can be used to fight against harmful organisms. Also, it is a concept that can be developed with the awareness of professionals and all individuals. If the fight against pests involves only physical measurements or chemi- cals, this method misses an important part, and you can- not move forward. Combining all these methods is crucial. The priority of the integrated pest method is to remove the current prob- lems and afterward to prevent economic loss that can be caused by pests with protective measurements. It is aimed to prevent not only economic losses but also diseases that adversely affect the environment and human health. TMO’S MOVE FOR LICENSED WAREHOUSING IS VERY IMPORTANT What do you think about Turkish Grain Board’s (TMO) breakthroughs in Licensed Warehouse recently? The sector’s breakthroughs with li- sensed warehouses are valuable de- velopments for both grain/cereal pro- ducers and the food industry. TMO’s target for the lisensed warehouse is 4 million tons for 2019. This transformation is, of course, a promising transformation for the private sector and farmers. In Turkey, 25 million tons of grain on average is supplied to the market every year. However, it is not possible to sell the entire harvest immediately. That’s why it is important to store the harvest until its sale un- der proper conditions. As I mentioned before, warehouse pests cause a loss of between 10% and 30% in the har- vest. When we consider our annual production which is 25 million tons, the risk is very big. For this reason, the invest- ments of TMO in lisensed warehouses are very important in terms of both the development of the economy and the encouragement of the warehousing. As Bayer Turkish Chemical Industry Limited Compa- ny, what else do you do for the food industry? As I said before, our slogan is “Health from Environment to Human.” When environmental conditions improve, we know that this will have an impact also on human health, and we try to offer solutions at every point that touches individual life. In the food industry, we try to contribute to the activities of the Food Safety Association with our own expertise. We organize one-on- one workshops and training with food producers and strive to raise awareness of the sector in the right pest fight and hygiene. Serdar bey nedir bu entegre pest mücadelesi? Bu ko- nuyu biraz açar mısınız? Entegre pest yönetimi aslında zararlı canlılarla mücade- le ederken kullanılabilecek tüm yöntemlerin uygun şekilde kullanımını içeren, hem profesyonellerin hem de tüm birey- lerin bilinçlenmesiyle geliştirilebilecek bir kavram. Çünkü zararlılarla yapılan mücadelede sadece fiziksel önlemlerin alınması veya sadece kimyasallarla kontrol edilmeye çalışıl- masıyla ilerlendiğinde aracın bir teker- leği hep eksik kalır ve yol alamazsınız. Tüm bu yöntemlerin bir arada kullanımı oldukça önemlidir. Entegre pest yö- netiminde öncelik, mevcut sorunları ortadan kaldırmak ve sonrasında da koruyucu önlemlerle pestlerin sebep olabileceği ekonomik kayıpların önüne geçmektir. Sadece ekonomik kayıpların değil; çevre ve insan sağlığını olumsuz etkileyen hastalıkların da önüne geçil- mesi hedeflenir. TMO’NUN LİSANSLI DEPOCULUK HAMLESİ ÇOK ÖNEMLİ Son yıllarda TMO’nun Lisanslı De- poculuk alanındaki atılımlarını sektör açısından nasıl buluyorsunuz? Sektörün lisanslı depolarla ilgili atı- lımları hem tahıl / hububat üreticileri hem de gıda endüstrisi için değerli ge- lişmeler. TMO’nun 2019’daki lisanslı depo hedefi 4 mil- yon ton kapasitesinde. Bu dönüşüm elbette özel sektör ve çiftçiler için umut vadeden bir dönüşüm. Türkiye’de her yıl ortalama 25 milyon ton hububat piyasaya arz edi- liyor. Ancak bu hasadın hemen satışa dönüşmesi müm- kün olamıyor. Dolayısıyla hasat satılana kadarki süreçte, uygun ortam koşullarında depolanması çok önemlidir. Daha önce belirttiğim gibi, depo zararlıları hasatta %10 ile %30 arasında kayba neden oluyor. 25 milyon tonluk yıllık üretimimizi düşündüğünüzde ortaya çıkan risk çok büyük. Bu sebeple TMO’nun lisanslı depolara yaptığı yatırımlar hem ekonominin gelişmesi hem de depoculuk alanına teşvik edilmesi anlamında oldukça önemli. Bayer Türk Kimya Sanayi Limited Şirketi olarak gıda sektörüne yönelik başka neler yapıyorsunuz? Daha önce de belirttiğim gibi; mottomuz “Çevreden İnsa- na Sağlık”. Çevre koşulları iyileştiğinde bunun insan sağlığı- na da etki edeceğini biliyoruz ve bireyin hayatına dokunan her noktada çözüm sunmaya çalışıyoruz. Gıda sektöründe, özellikle Gıda Güvenliği Derneği’nin faaliyetlerine kendi uz- manlığımızla katkı sağlamaya çalışıyoruz. Gıda üreticileri ile birebir atölye çalışmaları, eğitimler düzenleyerek doğru za- rarlı mücadelesi ve hijyen konularında sektörü bilinçlendir- meye çalışıyoruz.
