61 ARTICLE • MAKALE BBM / OCAK 2022 • JANUARY 2022 As a bread and bakery product master, I know very well what wheat suffers. I can even say that when I think about what it goes through I feel the same. I find the proverb 'half the world knows not how the other half lives' very valuable for understanding wheat. If we understand the pains wheat goes through until it be- comes a delicious morsel for us, then maybe we will value it more. When we look at today, it is a fact that we do not under- stand wheat, just as half the world knows not how the other half lives. The best time we understand the value of wheat is when we human beings are hungry. That's why I can say that awareness and empathy are gratitude for all blessings. Wheat and man are both seeds. Both thrive in the dark. The one who clings to the field becomes an ear, and the one who clings to the mother's field (womb) becomes a human. Of course, this is only the beginning. It is the first step to life. Life is always up and down like the cardiac rhythm. Life is not always a feast for all living things and their blessings. Making life a feast is to use the mind with effort, empathy, awareness, to notice the difference and to make sense of it. The birth and beginning of the life of wheat are extremely difficult. It experiences the pain of all kinds of troubles while struggling with wild herbs and animals as well as natural events such as snow, rain, wind, storm, cold, heat, flood and drought in the field. Its biggest fear is to be eaten by a bird and an insect before it can sprout. Wheat seeds that survive these Ekmek ve unlu mamul ustası olarak buğdayın neler çek- tiğini çok iyi biliyorum. Buğdayın bizim için lezzetli bir lokma haline gelene kadar çektiği sıkıntıları anlarsak belki o zaman daha çok kıymet veririz. Günümüze baktığımızda tokun açın halinden anla- madığı gibi, bizlerin de buğdayı anlamadığımız bir gerçek aslında. Buğdayın nimetlerini en iyi anladığımız zaman biz insanoğlunun aç olduğu zamanlardır. İşte bu yüzden farkın- dalık ve empati tüm nimetlerin şükrüdür diyebilirim. Buğday ve insan birer tohumdur. Her ikisi de karanlıkta büyür. Tarlaya tutunan başak olur, anne tarlasına (rahim) tu- tunan insan olur. Tabi ki bu bir başlangıçtır. Hayata ilk adım- dır. Yaşam her zaman kalp ritmi gibi inişli çıkışlıdır. Bütün canlılar ve nimetleri için hayat her zaman bayram olmuyor. Hayatın bayram olması çabayla, empatiyle, farkındalıkla aklı kullanmaktır, farkı fark etmek anlamlandırmaktır. Buğdayın doğumu ve hayata başlaması çok ama çok zordur. Tarlada kar, yağmur, rüzgar, fırtına, soğuk, sıcak, sel ve kuraklık gibi doğa olaylarının yanı sıra yabani otlar ve hayvanlarla mücadele ederken adeta her türlü sıkıntının acısını yaşar. En büyük korkusu ise daha filizlenip başağa duramadan kuşa-böceğe yem olmaktır. Bu zor süreçleri at- latan buğday tohumları başak olur. Ama yine de biçerdöveri
