10 BBM / HAZİRAN 2022 • JUNE 2022 NEWS HABER Turkish Grain Board (TMO) Chairman and General Manager Ahmet Güldal said that they have been managing a challenging process in recent years due to the pandemic and drought, and that the significance of food supply and safety has got into focus. Güldal stated that the Russia-Ukraine war added insult to injury. “Efforts are being made to seek and find solutions to turn the negative global process into a positive one. Decisions taken on other commercial measures, especially the war, are being recon- sidered, and it is requested that this process and the problem be eliminated as soon as possible. As TMO, we managed this pro- cess together with our industrialists. Although prices have risen globally and we have experienced negative periods, we have not had a supply problem in our country. We have not had any prob- lems with security of supply either," Güldal said. Reminding it is the beginning of the 2022 harvest period, Güldal said, “Compared to previous years and the last year, we are about to enter a much better harvest period. We are aware of this. Even if the effects of drought are severe in some countries and the production is high in some others and there is a decrease in transferred inventories in the world, these periods will end, as in similar crises in the past years." Toprak Mahsulleri Ofisi (TMO) Yönetim Kurulu Başkanı ve Genel Müdürü Ahmet Güldal, salgın ve kuraklık nedeniyle son yıllarda zor bir süreci yönettiklerini belirterek, gıda arzı ve güvenliğinin önemi- nin fark edildiğini aktardı. Rusya-Ukrayna savaşının olumsuz giden sürece katkı verdiğini ifade eden Güldal, şunları kaydetti: “Dünyadaki olumsuz süreci olumlu sürece çevirmek için çare aramak, çözüm üretmek noktasında gayret sarf ediliyor. Başta sa- vaş olmak üzere diğer ticari tedbirler konusunda alınmış kararlar yeniden gözden geçiriliyor ve bu sürecin, sıkıntının en kısa süre- de ortadan kaldırılması isteniyor. TMO olarak birçok sanayicimizle bu süreci birlikte yönettik. Her ne kadar dünyada fiyatlar yükselse de her ne kadar olumsuz dönemler yaşasak da ülkemizde bir arz sıkıntısı çekmedik, arz güvenliği noktasında bir sıkıntımız olmadı” Güldal, 2022 hasat döneminin başlangıcında olunduğuna işaret ederek, “Önceki yıllara göre, geçen yıla göre çok daha iyi bir ha- sat dönemine girmek üzereyiz, bunun farkındayız. Bazı ülkelerde kuraklığın etkisinin fazla olması, bazı ülkelerde de üretimin fazla ol- ması dünyada bir miktar devir stoklarının azalması söz konusu olsa bile mantıklı kararlar ve karşılıklı anlayışla sürece katkı verecek şe- kilde, geçmiş dönemlerde yıllar evvel benzeri krizlerde olduğu gibi bu dönemler de sona erecektir" diye konuştu.
